Mafia 2 Review

Mafia 1 was fun, Mafia 2 is a letdown. I would actually rather play the original game. After this review you will see why.

Mafia is kind of a 1940's Grand Theft Auto but not nearly as good. You are an Italian immagrint known as Vito Scaleta, throughout the game you will befriend many interesting and shady characters, this is the Mafia ofcourse. You will use classic WW2 Era weapons like the Thompson and the M1911 Handgun. The gunplay and firefights are one of the things that keeps the game alive. It is not an easy thing to play through the game on the harder difficulty, but then again if you are new to shooters easy will provide a decent enough challenge. This is one of the things I do like about Mafia, there is a difficulty level for everyone. What I do also like about Mafia 2 is that the world is huge, it took me a well over an hour and a half to drive from one side of the map to the other. (I did however stop at many other locations such as stores and diners.) The driving is, well, okay, there is no fast travel system and several missions are far apart from each other so I could be driving for ten minutes just to get to my next location, the driving is cool but with the lack of the fast travel system it will feel like a chore seeing as you will spend so much time doing it. The story.....it's....well.....good and bad, the game is incredibly, and I mean incredibly slow to start with, you won't really get interested until about three quarters of the way through the game.

The game lacks a multiplayer, the closest you will get is scoreboards for the game's first DLC. The DLC is actually better than standalone game.

6-10

Mafia 2 lacks a competitive Multiplayer, good story and actually lacks side quests (there are none) however the good driving system and very well programmed gunplay will keep the game alive.
